A song written by Flanders and Swann in 1957.
Flanders and Swann’s songs are characterized by wit, gentle satire, complex rhyming schemes, and memorable choruses. Flanders once commented:

“The purpose of satire, it has been rightly said, is to strip off the veneer of comforting illusion and cozy half-truth. And our job, as I see it, is to put it back again”

They wrote over a hundred comic songs together and this song celebrates, with an increasing refrain the “Big six-wheeler, scarlet-painted, London transport, diesel-engine, ninety-seven–horse-power omnibus”.
